But since then interest has increased tremendously. Even insurance businesses understand and recognize the advantages of a skilled massage therapist.

The expression massage treatment is used when speaking about health and healing practices that involve touch and motion.

It's a profession in which the therapist utilizes some manual methods, and might employ at adjunctive therapies. These techniques when applied have the only purpose of attempting to positively impact the health and well-being of their customer.

So where did massage therapy come from?

The word massage is the most likely to have emerged from the Greek word'Massein', meaning ‘to knead' or the Arabic term ‘mash' significance ‘to press softly'. Massage is truly the oldest type of physical medicine known to man.

 It can be tracked all the way back to the ancient Chinese medical manuscripts around 400BC. Hippocrates was known to urge massage. And he had been born in the fifth century and was also called “the father of medicine".

 It had been used and written about in Roman times; with background recording Julius Caesar had received massage to help relieve neuralgia!

Massage therapy dates back a long time. Ancient writings of many cultures have referenced the term massage.

In the USA massage therapy became popular for many different health functions in about that mid-1800's. Around the 1930s and 1940s, massage therapy fell out of favor. This was due to technological and scientific advances in medical treatments.
